The taxman may be the only one who thinks North Texas home values are still on fire.

And a lot of the latest home sale statistics should cast doubt on appraisals that say Dallas-Fort Worth home prices are still soaring ahead.

That’s been true for the past few years, when annual median sales prices for North Texas homes shot up by double-digit percentages. But starting last summer, the frenzied home market began to cool.

So far in 2019, the local housing market has been anything but hot. Through the first three months of the year, North Texas home prices are up a measly 1%.

Sales of single-family homes by area real estate agents are down 3% from a year ago, according to data from the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University.
